Do you and your family have a vacation planned to vacation to Sanibel Island soon? If you do, then allow us to share three bike trails with you that you can explore while you’re here. Staying in one of our Sanibel Island vacation rentals will allow your family to bring your bikes along with you. Let’s take a peek at three bike trails that you can explore on your next vacation to the island.
JN Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge
If you and your family love to look at wildlife, then head on over to the JN Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Your family will be able to bike along a 4-mile trail that will allow you to see birds, alligators, and other wildlife. You will have to pay $1 per cyclist to enjoy the path, but it will give your kids to enjoy seeing some of the refuges differently.
Sanibel Lighthouse
Another great location where your family can explore the island via a bike is at the Sanibel Lighthouse. Grab some breakfast over at the Lighthouse Café before you head off to view the lighthouse. The trail leading over to the lighthouse is nicely shaded, and you won’t have to worry about finding a parking spot. Be sure to check out the fishing pier while you are checking out the area.
Shipley Trail
Shipley Trail is located on the eastern part of the island and is something like you’ve never seen before. It’s a great location when you can not only ride your bike but also you can walk along with it too. Some of the wildlife you may spot along the trail are an alligator, woodpeckers, herons, and more. You will also be able to visit the Bailey Homestead, which is close to the trail and your family, to learn some history.
While there are many other trails located around the island, these we wanted to share with you. If you haven’t booked your next vacation to Sanibel Island, now is the time. We can’t wait to see you and your family as you explore the island via your bike soon!
