What to Do on A Rainy Day on Sanibel Island

What to Do on A Rainy Day on Sanibel Island

When it comes to Florida even during the winter months, it’s sunny but there are a few days where it might rain. Even though it may be raining on Sanibel Island, there are plenty of things that you and your family can do. And staying in one of our 3-Bedroom Condos that will keep you close to where the fun begins. Let’s look at what you and your family can do while it rains when you vacation to Sanibel Island.

I See Seashells

The shelling you can do while you are on vacation to Sanibel Island is probably why you came to visit, but when it rains it will give you the perfect excuse to learn more about them. The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum is where you will see thousands of seashells from around the world. You will also be able to see an exhibit that is dedicated to the shells found on Sanibel Island and even from nearby town, Captiva. If someone from your family is a serious shell collector, then they will drool over the world-record sized seashells found on display. This is the only shell museum in the U.S. that offers daily beach walks and mollusk tank talks to help educate visitors about the creatures that make and inhabit those pretty seashells.

Let’s Learn History

What to Do on A Rainy Day on Sanibel Island

When it comes to Sanibel Island, the history is rich here. For those rainy days and if you would like to learn a little more about Sanibel Island, then head over to the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village. Here you and your family will be able to get the feel for Sanibel as it was 100 years ago with being able to visit a few historical buildings. One of the buildings that your family will be able to visit is the Sanibel School from 1896 and the 1926 Post Office. Admission is $10 per adult and children are free. There is a museum store that you will be able to purchase a few things about the history of Sanibel Island, so be sure to check that out. Even when on vacation, learning can be done on rainy days.

Explore the Beach

What to Do on A Rainy Day on Sanibel Island

If you keep a close eye on the weather, then you can take advantage of the beach if there are any breaks from the rain. Having a weather app on your phone can help you feel out how “rainy” the day will be and will allow you to still enjoy the beach some. Grab a beach bag or seashell bag with you where you can do the “Sanibel Stoop” as you collect some of the shells from the shores. Knowing that you and your family could be enjoying the outdoors even when it’s raining can be a new family tradition.

Play Board Games at your Resort

Another great thing that you can do on a rainy day here on Sanibel Island is playing a few rounds of board games in your room at Blind Pass Condominiums. Bring a few family favorites with you on your vacation. While you listen to the rain in the background, you can play a game or two for a little bit. If board games aren’t your thing bring whatever games you love to play at home and just enjoy your time together.

No matter whatever you decide to do whether it’s relaxing or finding a new adventure while it rains on Sanibel Island, they are memories you will have forever. If you still haven’t booked your next vacation to Sanibel Island, then you should check out Blind-Pass Condominiums for your next visit. We hope that we will be able to see you and your family on your next vacation making magical memories.

3 Things to do this Summer on your Sanibel Island Vacation

3 Things to do this Summer on your Sanibel Island Vacation

Do you and your family have a vacation planned to visit Sanibel Island this summer? We at Blind Pass Condominiums can help you with our three things you can do on your vacation. Staying in one of our Sanibel Island vacation rentals will keep your family enjoying your holiday a little more. Let’s look below at what your family can do on your next vacation to Sanibel Island.

Shell Hunting

Sanibel Island is known as the best beach for shelling because of the amounts of shells you will find here. We understand that this is a high activity that anyone can do, including the kids. We have a few pointers on how to see some of the best and most unique shells on the beach. Be sure to get some mesh bags for shelling or mesh beach bags. Then you can comb through the shells you will find on the beach. Also, if you have your swimsuit on, then go on into the water some and dig a little bit. We promise that you will find some unique shells in the water and some of the best. Just have a good time as a family looking for some great shells to take home.

Painting the Shells

Another fun activity that a lot of locals and visitors love to do is painting the shells they find. One way that you can paint the shells is by grabbing some sharpies and having some rubbing alcohol. Color the shells with designs or just coloring them a little bit with different colors. Then you will want to grab a little bit of rubbing alcohol and drip some of it onto the shells. This will not only make a fresh design but will give each shell a unique look to it. Another way you can paint is by using acrylic paint and adding a protective coat onto the shell to make sure the design is sealed in. This is a great activity to do on a rainy day here on the island!

Take a Ride on the Water

3 Things to do this Summer on your Sanibel Island Vacation

One of the best amenities that we offer to our guests is complimentary use of our kayaks and canoes. This is an excellent activity for the whole family to get into as you can see the different wildlife from the water. Be sure to take a camera with you as you float down the Clam Bayou together. The various animals that you may locate on the ride are ospreys, herons, fish, and even a few manatees.

There are many other things you can do this summer while you are vacationing to Sanibel Island. These are just a few that we wanted to mention to you. If you haven’t booked your next family vacation to stay with us in one of our Sanibel Island vacation rentals, now is the time. We can’t wait to see you and your family as you make new memories this summer!

Fun Beach Activities for the Family

Fun Beach Activities for the Family

Are you and your family coming to Sanibel Island for vacation? We at Blind Pass Condominiums can tell you all about the fun beach activities the whole family can do. When staying with us in one of our Sanibel Island vacation rentals, you will be close to where the fun can happen. Let’s look below at a few of the fun beach activities for the family.

Let’s Hunt for Treasure

Fun Beach Activities for the Family

This is an activity the whole family will want to get in on. Before leaving your condo for the day at the beach, you will want to take a piece of paper and draw up a treasure map and have a bucket for the whole family. Then you will want to go out onto the beach and hunt for your treasure. The kids can look for different color shells, something blue, driftwood and more. One the map, have a list of the items that they can find and mark them off as you find them. This is a fun activity to do and something that everyone in the family will love doing!

Sandcastle Building

Anytime you visit the beach, one of the things that each child will build is a sandcastle. So naturally this is a fun activity that the family can enjoy building together. To help build their sandcastles you are going to make sure that everyone has a bucket, shovel and shells to build their dream sandcastle. Take a picture of each sandcastle that was built and save it to give to the kids when they become parents.

Play Ball

Fun Beach Activities for the Family

Playing any kind of game on the beach is fun for everyone in the family. Brining a soccer ball on your next vacation to Sanibel Island will allow you to bond even more. Here you can break up into different teams or you can pass the ball back and forth to each other. No matter what you do with the soccer ball, you get to bond a little more with each family member.

Beach Ball Volleyball

Another fun activity that your family can do is play beach ball volleyball. This game is played just like regular volleyball, but instead you use a beach ball. Playing with a beach ball can be completely different than with a volleyball. The ball is much lighter than a regular volleyball and so if there is any wind, it may not go the way you want it to. But no matter what you play with the beach ball, it will be fun either way.

There are many other fun activities that the family can do together while on vacation, but these are the few we wanted to share. If you still haven’t made your Sanibel Island vacation plans yet, now is the time. We hope to see you and your family soon making new memories to last a lifetime!

Fall on Sanibel Island is the Best

Fall on Sanibel Island is the Best

Summer is coming to an end soon which only means one thing, fall is coming! With school beginning back for most kids after Labor Day weekend, why not head to Sanibel Island for a week at the beach. If you happen to be staying with us at Blind Pass Condominiums, you will be close to where all the fun is. Let’s look below at why coming to Sanibel Island is the best in the fall!

Fall Weather

While the weather may be cooling drastically around the county, it’s not really the same as living up north. The average temperatures in the Sanibel Island area for September are roughly 89 degrees at the beginning of the month to being around 87 degrees during the day. At night the temperatures are from 77 – 75 degrees during the month of September. Even though it may not seem like a lot of a drop in the heat, when you are at the coast there normally is a small breeze off the gulf so that will help out some.

Beach Time

Fall on Sanibel Island is the Best

Since the fall is considered the off-season, visiting the beaches of Southwest Florida is just what the doctor ordered. You can have roughly 15 miles of the beach all to yourself and family or at least until Christmastime. This means that you and your family can have a relaxing day, playing in the sand, riding the waves or just enjoying time together. With such a wonderful island with luscious hibiscus and bike paths, you will get to spend all the time in the world together. The crowds will thin out and you will be able to still swim with the family.

Shelling Paradise

While there are chances for it to rain and storm while you visit the state of Florida, this is the best time to be able to enjoy some shelling. The fall weather makes perfect conditions for shelling with the family. We even have a few secrets to share with you to find the perfect shells. If you go an hour before low tide or go the day after a storm, the shells will be so thick that you will have to wear flip-flops to collect them. Taking a net or a bag will help you be able to find the perfect shell collection to take home and share with others.

Sunsets for Days

Fall on Sanibel Island is the Best

And of course, you can’t forget about those sunsets that you will get to see while you are on vacation. If you head to Blind Pass Beach, you will be at the island’s only west-facing beach for you to take advantage of the perfect photo opportunity. Plus, just taking a walk on the beach helps big time too to help relax while you are on vacation. You might even spot a dolphin or two while you are watching the sunset. Don’t miss out on the beauty that this island has to offer you without having to fly or cruise to the tropical paradise in the Caribbean. You will be able to find it here on Sanibel Island.

There are many other reasons to visit Sanibel Island this fall but these are just a few we’d thought you and your family would enjoy. If you are still looking for a place to stay in the area, we know of some pretty great condos for you to rent. Fall on the island where you will be able to enjoy some fun, family-friendly activities for all to love. We can’t wait to see you this fall with you and your family!
